Education Overview - SECO 2012

 
SECO 2012 will offer more than 400 hours of continuing education for optometrists, opticians, paraoptometrics, ophthalmic technicians and administrative staff. Education includes Special Sessions, hourly lectures, hands-on workshops, certification reviews and joint education for the entire office. SECO 2012 offers more hours of education than any other meeting and is also one of the largest educational events for Allied Ophthalmic Professionals.
 
Optometric Continuing Education
The SECO 2012 continuing education program promises to deliver a CE program for doctors that is unsurpassed in the industry. We invite you to join us for SECO 2012 where our motto is not just “Education,” but “Education Plus.” SECO’s dedicated volunteers have created the 2012 OD continuing education program from the ground up with new speakers, new topics and new educational experiences that continue to redefine optometry as we know it. SECO 2012 will provide more opportunities than ever for optometrists to participate in world-class CE and events.
 
The optometric continuing education program will feature continuing education from Wednesday, February 29, through Sunday March 4, 2012.
All Sunday courses will be held in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel.

Optometry Student Education
Optometrists entering the profession face new opportunities and challenges. Preparation is key in planning for success, particularly when considering the current state of the economy. Begin planning for success now by taking advantage of SECO’s full day of FREE student education during SECO 2012. Designed to help graduating ODs prepare for future success, the Student Education Program is produced by SECO International and supported by an educational grant from The Vision Care Institute. The optometry student education program will feature education presented Saturday, March 3, 2012.The program also includes a complimentary lunch.
 
 
 
Allied Ophthalmic Professional Education
SECO 2012 will offer more than 140 educational courses for Allied OphthalmicProfessionals (AOPs), with more than 90 of these courses provided at no additionalcharge! From basic education to hands-on workshops and certification reviews, AOPswill have the opportunity to expand their skills, or simply sharpen them. SECO 2012offers education for ABO, NCLE, JCAHPO and AOA Paraoptometric credit.

COPE Accreditation
 
All Optometrist Continuing Education courses, with the exception of Symposium Series courses have been COPE approved.
 
Continuing Education with Examination (CEE) Courses offered at SECO 2012

We are pleased to offer 18 courses, totaling 36 hours of Continuing Education with Examination (CEE), formally known as TQ at SECO 2012. The University of Alabama School of Optometry; Birmingham (UAB) is the examination provider. Pick up the examination form at the course rooms or at the Information Booth located on Level 4 of the Georgia World Congress Center  Upon completion of the final CEE course, simply return the completed request form to the Information Booth no later than Saturday at 6:30 PM, or mail it to UAB at the address provided on the form.  UAB will mail the course examinations to you. Upon completion of the exam, mail it back to UAB along with a $25.00 fee for each exam. UAB will score the exam and will notify you of your score.
